Lesism Live (Video)

This is my first foray into video blogging, recorded in nearby woodland I mentioned in my previous post ‘The Woodpecker at the End of the World’.

If you’ve read that already, you may be pleased to know I returned to the spot I sat at with a smile on my face. There were no flashbacks and I wasn’t carrying rope. It was a tremendously tranquil and stunning evening.

This video clearly shows that I am currently in a state of flabbiness… but I’m actually very happy about that, because I’ll be able to show the physical transformation that I dedicated myself to in my ‘Rebuilding the Colossus’ blog, yesterday.

Although I’m not about to give up the written word, I will be posting more videos over the months ahead to show what I promise will be dramatic changes in my body. I mean, you’re not going to believe me if I just write that I’ve manifested into a manfox, are you?

I hope it's not as uncomfortable to watch as it was for me! I'll get used to it... I guess...

  1. Loving the deadpan humour! Well done, braver than me!

  2. Hehe... it makes me cringe, but it's got to start somewhere. :-)

  3. ha ha you look shifty like someone who's scared of being caught doing something unsavoury or illegal. Good move though.

  4. Scared of being caught talking to myself in the middle of the woods! :-P

  5. Haha! Does Titan approve of this? ;)

  6. He was sleeping when I went out, so I didn't ask! :-P

  7. Hey! We're on the same path at the same time...nice to meet a fellow traveler!
    Peace,
    Cynthia
(I have many blogs out there (4)...but our new house reminds me of your woods -- we named the house our Treehouse and our backyard is Pixie Hollow.)

  8. Oh triffic! lol! I liked that MUCH!

  9. Pleased to meet you, too, Cynthia! I'd love a house in those woods - though I'm not sure if the woodpeckers would! ;-)

  10. Hehe... glad you enjoyed it, Terri. I think there will be a lot more to come. It was fun! :-)

  11. I, um ... can't hang myself. I have no rope strong enough. May I borrow yours?
    JK, cute, very cute. :)

  12. Um... it's sort of an anti-hanging message I'm trying to express. ;-)

  13. I know, I know. And I come along and lower the tone. On a good note, I now know what a wizard's sleeve is, you dirty blighter. :)

  14. Haha! TOO many people have asked me that question... I blush and tell them to have a think about it. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  15. You should never blush over something you've had the nerve to write. ;)

  16. What a hoot! 'Les'son 3 I've derived from this post: you're quite funny! (And we are equally skittish in the gratuitous video department.) I look forward to seeing where you take this, Les!

  17. Ha! I'll try not to in future, Julie. :-)

And thanks, Mama! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a useful experiment. I guess not everyone has the patience to read through a wall of text. :-)

  18. I'm glad I live in London. No badgers. Much. But oh gawd, you are funny. (And I promise not to hang myself. At least not on purpose. Hopefully not on accident, either.)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Aw, thanks, Shéa! And I'm glad you're taking my advice!

Strangely, even though I'd lived in the countryside all my life, I never saw a fox until I moved to London. A couple of them ran across a quiet street in Highgate as I was walking home. Didn't see any badgers, though. :-P

  20. Not to hang yourself if good advice.

When panning the camera, slow down, so that your auto-focus can keep up with your movements. Also, voice over, or music background during those pans would be nice.

  21. It's just a video blog! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL. Well, except the fact that you moved the cam a little too quickly and shaking it a little too (probably fear of getting caught :P), it was very good. Oh, no, I won't hang myself...at least, not yet.

Quote: "what I promise will be dramatic changes in my body" - just not rated, ok? I'm not past maturity, yet. :D

    Thanks for sharing :)

  23. Jeeze... after the last two Tweets, maybe I should suspend my video blogging until I've passed my Master's Degree in Cinematography? ;-)

  24. ha ha ! I loved this...almost had a Blair Witch vibe. "state of flabbiness" is a hysterical term. Really enjoy your humor and blog.

  25. Hehe, thank you, Michele! :-)

  26. That would be one hell of a place to do it! The epitome of a horror show to say the least! You weren't concerned about getting caught in the woods hanging yourself, but were concerned about getting caught there with your iPhone? You have quite a sense of humor Les! Is it a restricted area or something? Anyway, I'm really glad you didn't succeed with that plan.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ha, that's a good point! I should have been a bit bolder with the phone, considering the last time I went there. :-)

    I'm glad too. It's a beautiful world. I realise that, now. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. It was wonderful Les. I was really scared for you out in the woods all alone. I love badgers though, so many when I lived in England. It is a beautiful world, we just need to stop some nuts from messing it up. I won't hang myself because frankly I would bung it up! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm glad I'm rubbish at hanging myself, too! Thank you - and yep, a very beautiful world. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Crikey that was funny! sheesh.... Still laughing I loved it! So beautiful your woods..do more of these blogs Les

  31. I've got to say it, you clearly have missed your true calling, comedian? Love the video!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Are you saying I'm a bad writer?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love it. Come to Cali and hike with me. Or I'm coming back to Scotland to hike the Highlands again within the next two years.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'd need to sell my other liver to afford the airfare, sadly, but Scotland sounds good! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Of course you're not a bad writer but maybe I am, I meant I thought your video had funny aspects to it. You're so relaxed and humorous at the same time. Do I make any sense at all?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I was just playing. ;-)

    Thank you! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hehe... Hiya Robert! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Welcome to the one man goon show! This is the best thing since sliced, well, since Spike, Peter and Harry.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hehe - thanks, John, though I'm no Goon... though I've been told I'm a goon before. ;-)

  40. Very funny! I knew it would have a happy ending, because you are still here. Hehe! Glad you are finding enjoyment in the woods, other than looking for a very strong branch. I think you could develop this one and enter it in Sydney's Tropfest (world's largest short film festival).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Haha, thanks... but I'm not sure my short film skills are sufficient for esteemed competitions. I reckon I'll stick to the writing. ;-)

  42. Oh I love your woods! They're so very beautiful & much more adept to hiking than those of my sub-tropical environment. We have such think underbrush sometimes one must crouch to follow animal trails. I've seen many animals on my excursions. A few foxes, deer, a dead cougar, a very small young bobcat that I very quickly left alone, wild boars, snakes, opossums, armadillos, & even alligators(mostly seen near the swamps & occasionally in the lakes). Anyway if I had woods as beautiful as yours I don't know how I'd stay out of them! (Do that many people venture into them that they'd catch you talking to yourself? & you have cell service in the woods?!)

  43. Love it!

If we cannot find humor in ourselves, where then can we find it? Very sexah to see a self-deprivating man among the lovely trees.

    Hellooooo from Colorado~

  44. I luv it! Since I often treck around in the woods talking to the little people in my camera... I think you've hit on a marvelous idea! Kindred Spirit here... go with it! I'm pleased you left the rope at home and that you were not pelted by squirrels throwing nuts! They do that you know, they lay in wait and then, POW.. right in the head. Mean little buggers :-P

  45. We're lucky over here, Sumlin, in that - apart from the werewolves and badgers, of course - there's nothing in the undergrowth that's going to leap out and bite or maul us.

The woods aren't far from my house, so still a signal, though I didn't need one to record that clip. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hehe, very true, Mariposa! It's a great place. Very tranquil. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Patricia, you're both crazy and adorable. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Careful Les, call me adorable and I may comment on all your blogs ;-P Crazy I am and crazy I'll stay... tis fun ya know?

    Your biggest fan, :-P

  49. I was just about ready to hang myself when I saw your video, well done you talked me out of it and now i'm having a happy life....Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  50. You Humor and wit makes me chuckle:)

    ReplyDelete
  51. You're very brave, not sure I could do it - going to the woods on my own would be really terrifying!

    ReplyDelete
  52. This is very cool! I never thought of a video blog, and it has given me some ideas. Excellent!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Love your accent! Now we have a voice to go with the face and the written words. It is a bit strange talking to a camera/phone at first, but you do get used to it. I did vlogs (video blogs) for a bit once upon a time. I haven't done one in ages and since I've gained weight I don't really want to be behind a video cam right now. No hanging allowed, can't wait for more!
